Abstract
This conference will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Veneziano’s paper, which led to the development of string theory. This will be an opportunity to not only look back at the history of the subject but to survey the present and future status of the field. Thus the format of the conference will include several scientific sessions with a number of talks and discussions of broad areas, and a session of historical talks.
