Workshop
25 Aug, 2025 - 03 Oct, 2025
This workshop aims at catalyzing the joint efforts of particle physicists and cosmologists towards the exploration of new physics with large cosmological datasets. The workshop is structured to encompass three thematic weeks dedicated to model building and testing fundamental physics in cosmology, developing novel theoretical tools to search for new physics in cosmological observables, and discussing the potential of next generation experiments to probe the plethora of new physics signals.
Format: The long-term GGI workshops have format similar to those at the Aspen Center for Physics or the Munich Institute for Astro- and Particle Physics (MIAPP). Most of the weeks have a relaxed schedule with just one to two talks per day and plenty of time for discussions and collaboration in the stimulating setting of the GGI Institute. The program is very loosely structured around topical weeks, but the participants are encouraged to stay for multiple weeks and interact with experts in different fields.
Application: In order to submit your application, please click the Apply button above and fill in the registration form. The minimum length of stay is one week, but we strongly encourage participants to stay for several weeks. Application deadline is May 31, 2025.
Accommodation: All selected participants will be able to book accommodation through GGI, in order to get the best possible prices in the local hotels. For a limited number of participants GGI will be able to cover local expenses. Please indicate in your application if you need such support.
Week 1 (25 Aug - 29 Aug): Advanced School on Precision Cosmology and Dark Matter
The school for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers interested in using cosmological observables to unravel the nature of dark matter.
Week 2 (01 Sep - 05 Sep): Models of new physics vs cosmological probes
What kind of new physics can be discovered by upcoming cosmological probes? Ideas about early and late universe modifications of the standard cosmological model. Model building for the dark sector and cosmological implications.
Week 3 (08 Sep - 12 Sep): New theoretical tools to model the late universe and search for new physics
How can we improve our predictions and analyses for models beyond LCDM? Progress in perturbation theory and simulations. Application of machine learning. Analyses beyond 2-point statistics. New observables.
Week 4 (15 Sep - 19 Sep): Focus week
The focus week is dedicated to initiating a much-needed community white paper, summarizing new and well-motivated particle physics models that can be tested in cosmology in light of upcoming data and planned future experiments.
Week 5 (22 Sep - 26 Sep): New physics in early and late universe and possible impact on design of the next generation of experiments
What are the generic signatures of new physics from inflation to late universe and how to optimally look for them? Large classes of new models and their features. Optimization of future galaxy survey and CMB experiments to search for new physics.
Week 6 (29 Sep - 03 Oct): Symposium

The participants who would like to present a poster are kindly invited to send an email with the title and a short abstract to alice.bernamonti@unifuit before May 22, specifying for which week of the workshop. Since a limited number of panels is available, the organizers will select the posters shortly after the deadline.
