J. Robert Oppenheimer was a puzzle to everyone. Any portrait of him must always return to the crucial fact that he was the “father of the Atomic Bomb”. He had a stormy personal life and a charismatic personality. After the war, for his radical left-wing background he was accused of being a security risk and lost his security clearance. What were the reasons for these suspicions? Was he simply another victim of the anti-communist paranoia sweeping America in the early fifties? - Nima Arkani-Hamed night session
